## Common questions

### Does Plex-utills need write access to my media?

Plex-utills no longer needs write access to your media. The Docker Compose example mounts /films read-only, and media access is only needed for the media info scan; disabling that scan removes media access but disables audio banners.

### Where are poster backups stored?

Poster backups and bannered poster backups are kept in a backup folder next to the config files, separate from your media. Files are saved using the Plex GUID, and restores use the local backups.

### What does setting a TMDB API key enable?

Setting a TMDB API key lets you upload new posters from TMDB through Plex-utills. The uploaded posters are processed and bannered immediately, and an unbannered backup is created.

### How can I hide films that only have a 4K version?

The Hide 4K script adds an “Untranscodable” tag to films that only have a single 4K copy. Add that tag to user restrictions so those users do not see the films; you can also create an optimized version with Plex optimize.

### Does the TV poster script support bannered posters for shows?

The TV poster script can add banners to episodes and seasons, and its search is filtered to 4K or HDR files. Bannered posters are not supported for Shows.

### What should I do on first run after updating?

On the first run after updating, Plex-utills asks you to migrate. This seeds the database of your bannered films.
