## Common questions

### What Docker tag and user settings should I use for Recyclarr?

Use a specific or major version tag instead of :latest, which is not supported. The image is rootless since v2.3.0, so pass the Nobody user with --user="99:100". Remove PUID and PGID from the container environment.

### What must I set so Recyclarr can connect to Sonarr or Radarr and update the right profiles?

For each instance, set base_url including the port and api_key, then list quality_profiles with exact existing profile names and trash_id. If the connection, profile names, or trash_id do not match, Recyclarr will not update the intended profile.

### Will delete_old_custom_formats remove custom formats I made manually?

Yes, if set to true it can remove custom formats Recyclarr no longer manages, including rules you made yourself. Leave it false unless you want Recyclarr to delete old custom formats.

### Should I back up Radarr before running Recyclarr?

One user recommends backing up the Radarr instance before running Recyclarr. This lets you see whether its changes are useful.
