## Common questions

### How do I get the RustDesk ID on a headless Linux machine?

After installing RustDesk, run sudo rustdesk --get-id to find the device ID. Use that ID when connecting, because without the correct ID the remote computer has no way to find it.

### When should I configure an HTTP proxy for RustDesk?

Set up a proxy only if the network requires an HTTP proxy for RustDesk to reach the internet. Install and enable Tinyproxy so it starts on boot, or RustDesk may not be able to connect.

### How do I choose the correct LinuxServer.io RustDesk container architecture?

The image supports x86-64 and arm64. Pulling the latest tag should retrieve the correct image for your architecture, or use the amd64 or arm64v8 tags for a specific image.

### Does the RustDesk Server Pro FAQ cover upgrading from the open-source server?

Yes. The Server Pro FAQ covers installation, conversion from OSS, upgrades, license migration, logging, SMTP issues, and device-management problems.
