## Common questions

### Can Ampache work with third-party music apps instead of only its web interface?

Yes, the same catalog can be served through its native API, Subsonic and OpenSubsonic, a Jellyfin-compatible backend, DAAP, and UPnP/DLNA. Clients such as Finamp, Symfonium, DSub, Sonixd, iTunes, or a TV DLNA player can point at the same server.

### Can Ampache transcode audio if my player cannot handle a given format?

Ampache normally streams the original files, but if configured properly it can transcode on the fly. For example, it can convert FLAC to MP3 for a player that does not support FLAC.

### Can I keep videos, podcasts, and radio streams in the same library as music?

Yes, video lives in the same catalog as music, podcasts can sync on a schedule, and live radio streams can play alongside the library. Collections can group songs, albums, videos, and playlists together.

### Where should I look for installation and configuration help?

The Ampache wiki includes pages for Setup, Installation, Configuration, and using Ampache, along with sections for clients, plugins, and themes.
