## Common questions

### How do I run the first-time Akaunting Docker setup and what should I do afterward?

Set AKAUNTING_SETUP=true, configure the env files, and run docker-compose up -d, then finish the company wizard on HTTP port 8080. After setup is complete, stop the containers and start them again without the setup variable. Do not use AKAUNTING_SETUP=true again after the first setup.

### Can Akaunting use Redis for cache, sessions, and queues?

Yes, put REDIS_HOST in env/run.env and set CACHE_DRIVER, SESSION_DRIVER, and QUEUE_CONNECTION to Redis. The Docker notes describe this as an option for performance enhancement and scalability.

### How do I make the Akaunting money settings file editable?

Run php artisan vendor:publish --tag=money to copy the money settings file into the app. If you skip this, you may be stuck with default currency behavior and no easy place to change it.

### What accounting limits have self-hosters reported for the free Akaunting version?

A self-hosted user reported that the free version seems limited to single-entry accounting. The same thread notes the paid version may be more complete.
