### Do I need to open inbound ports from the Portabase Dashboard server to my database hosts?

No. The central server does not contact agents directly; agents periodically contact the central server.

### What Helm prerequisite can prevent the Portabase installation from working correctly?

Use the documented Helm command that creates a random project.secret before installing. If that secret is not generated, the project may be misconfigured and the installation may not work as expected.

### Why might the Portabase dashboard fail to show a database's details?

Each database must be linked to a project before its details are opened. If it is not linked, the API returns a 403 error, so the dashboard may not be able to show that database's details.

### Can Portabase authenticate users through external identity providers?

Yes. Portabase supports OIDC and OAuth2 authentication connectors, allowing one or more external identity providers.

### Which database engines supported by Portabase can be restored?

Restore is supported for PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, SQLite, Firebird, MSSQL Server, and Docker Volume. Redis and Valkey are backed up, but restore is not supported.
