## Common questions

### What should I do if my OpenClaw instance had the OpenProse plugin before v2026.8.1?

OpenClaw no longer bundles OpenProse or the /prose command, and the removed plugin did not store state in the SQLite database. Run openclaw doctor --fix to remove stale plugin configuration, then install the upstream OpenProse skill if you still need it.

### What if the installer does not open OpenClaw's setup screen?

Run openclaw onboard, or use openclaw configure later to change settings. Completing the wizard writes the core configuration OpenClaw needs to start and connect correctly.

### Is there a recommended validation step before fully committing to a self-hosted OpenClaw deployment?

The guide recommends starting with a month of managed hosting to validate the workflow. It also suggests using OpenRouter as the model provider.
