## Common questions

### Which ports must be reachable for Sharkord to serve the web client and voice?

Sharkord uses port 4991 for the main web/API connection and port 40000 for WebRTC voice. If those ports are blocked, clients cannot reach the server or join voice channels.

### What directory should I persist in Docker?

For Docker, mount a host directory to /home/bun/.config/sharkord, as shown by the -v ./data:/home/bun/.config/sharkord example. This keeps the server's files on the host instead of only inside the container.

### How do I get owner access when I first start Sharkord?

It prints a secret token on first launch that grants owner access and signs every session and file URL. Keep the token out of logs and screenshots, store it securely, and do not lose it.

### Do I need to back up config.ini before editing it?

Save a copy before changing config.ini because it stores settings like debug mode, auto-update, and rate limits. Losing or editing it badly can change server behavior or make troubleshooting harder.

### Does Sharkord support every Discord feature?

It does not aim to replicate all of Discord's features. It focuses on core chat and voice functionality for small to medium private groups, with extensibility through plugins.
