## Description

Dawarich DB sets up a PostGIS (PostgreSQL spatial extension) database container that serves as the data store for Dawarich, a self-hosted web app that replaces Google Maps Timeline. It runs the PostGIS/PostgreSQL backend so you can import your location history from Google Maps Timeline or Owntracks, visualise it on an interactive map, and explore statistics such as countries and cities visited and total distance travelled. It is for self-hosters who want a private location-history map and statistics without depending on Google.

## Common questions

### How do I start the Dawarich services that include the database?

Use Docker Compose with the docker-compose.yml file to start the web app, database, and workers. If this step is skipped, the service is not available.

### What should I check if Dawarich fails to start or connect to its database?

Copy .env.example to .env and fill in the required values before starting the stack. Missing or incorrect values can stop the app from starting or connecting to the database.

### How should I expose Dawarich through a reverse proxy?

Create a frontend Docker network and run the proxy on it so it can reach the services. Without this, external access may be blocked even though the app is running inside Docker.

### Can I import existing Google Location History into Dawarich?

Yes, Dawarich can import Google Timeline data. It also supports data from OwnTracks and GPSLogger.

### Do the iOS and Android apps work offline?

Yes, the iOS and Android apps can track offline and upload automatically once you are back online.
