## Common questions

### How do I create the settings file for a Mattermost container deployment?

Run cp env.example .env before starting Mattermost. Without this .env settings file, the app may not have the configuration it needs to run.

### Why does Mattermost not appear in the browser after installing the GitLab Omnibus package?

Run sudo systemctl start mattermost to start the service. If this step is skipped, the service is not running and the app will not be available in a browser.

### How do I add built-in video calls to Mattermost?

Run mmctl plugin marketplace install jitsi to install the Jitsi plugin. This is optional, and without it the video-call feature will not be available.

### Can one Mattermost Desktop client access multiple self-hosted servers?

Yes, the native desktop app includes a server dropdown for access to multiple servers.

### Is Mattermost Enterprise Edition intended for customer support deployments?

It is not recommended for primarily providing customer service or customer support. It does not currently offer a licensing model or technical advice for that use case.
