## Description

GitHub Repo Download is a web tool that bundles the files of a GitHub repository into a single, readable text file. Enter a repository URL, or upload a local ZIP archive of text files, to get one combined file. ## Common questions

### Can it combine files from a local folder instead of only a GitHub repository?

Yes, it can combine all plain text files from a GitHub repo or local folder into one file, and you can select a local folder to upload.

### Does it keep downloaded repositories on disk?

No, everything is kept in memory, so there is no storage to manage and no cleanup needed.

### Is there a separate URL to download the consolidated file?

No, the file is embedded in the results page HTML as a data URI because the process is done in memory.

### Does it count tokens for the combined text, and where is that calculated?

Yes, it provides a token count that is calculated in the browser using a WASM packaging of Python's tiktoken library.

### How does it reduce risk from unsafe ZIP contents?

It avoids extracting downloaded files to disk, so it does not have to handle relative paths or other ZIP shenanigans.
