## Common questions

### What port and initial login should I use for the quick Docker/SQLite start?

The quick start publishes port 3000 and uses the initial login admin / changeme. It stores data in the mounted /var/lib/semaphore volume when using SQLite.

### Do I need to create the database before setup when using MySQL?

Yes. Create the semaphore database with CHARACTER SET utf8 and collate utf8_bin before setup. It stores projects, users, and task results, and setup fails if the database is missing.

### Why might Semaphore not respond after setup completes?

The service may still need to be started with a command such as ./bin/semaphore server. If it is not running, the installation can look complete but the service remains offline.

### Does Semaphore retry if a Git server is briefly unreachable during a task?

Yes. If the Git server or network has a transient outage, Semaphore retries clone and pull operations automatically before failing the task.
