## Common questions

### Can the GUI be used on a separate machine while the data is collected on a server?

Yes. It can be used on a different machine, such as a desktop, with data collected by a Perl script on the server.

### Why might it report a different disk usage total than a file manager?

On btrfs, it may not be able to read certain folders, such as @root, so its total can differ from what the file manager reports.

### How does it handle deleting entire directories?

It does not copy entire directory trees to the trash. It tries to copy single files, and for larger items it follows the XDG trash specification.

### Does it provide both a tree view and a treemap?

Yes. It shows directory and file sizes in a traditional tree view and in a colored treemap, with larger files displayed as larger rectangles.
