## Common questions

### Does NetAlertX need host networking in Docker to scan the network?

It may need host networking if the container must reach the network being scanned; one user had to set network:host in the Docker Compose file instead of using a bridge.

### Why can NetAlertX see devices in some VLANs but not others?

The container must be able to access the networks it scans. ARP scanning and ping use different protocols, so reachability can differ between VLANs.

### What PUID and PGID should I use for NetAlertX?

Set PUID and PGID to an account that can access the NetAlertX files. If they are wrong, the app may fail to save settings, write logs, or read its data.

### Why does a multi-NIC host get the same IP reported for several NICs?

On systems with multiple NICs, such as a Proxmox server, ARP responses handled by the OS can cause NetAlertX to incorrectly assign the same IP to all NICs. This creates false device mappings.
