## Description

Shiori is a simple, self-hosted bookmark manager written in Go, intended as a lightweight clone of Pocket. It lets you add, edit, search, and import/export bookmarks through a browser-based web interface or command line. Because it ships as a single binary, it is a low-maintenance choice for homelab users who want a minimal read-later and bookmark-archiving service without heavy dependencies.

## Common questions

### Which port does Shiori use for the web interface, and how do I change it?

The web interface is opened on port 8080 when started with shiori serve. If that port is already in use, start it with shiori serve -p 8090 or another free port.

### How do I make Shiori start automatically on a Linux server?

If Shiori is installed as a Linux service, run systemctl enable --now shiori so it starts immediately and after reboots. Without this, it may not be available after the server restarts.

### How do I make Shiori use PostgreSQL or MySQL instead of its default database?

Set SHIORI_DATABASE_URL to the connection address, including username, password, and database name. If it is not set, Shiori uses its default SQLite database.

### Can I migrate existing bookmarks into Shiori?

Shiori can import bookmarks from Pocket and from Netscape Bookmark files. It can also export bookmarks to Netscape Bookmark files.

### Does Shiori save offline copies of bookmarked pages?

Where possible, Shiori parses the readable content and creates an offline archive of the webpage by default.
