## Description

nexlore is a notes app for your own server, in the browser: Markdown files on your disk, written in a real editor (WYSIWYG, slash menu, tables, callouts, properties), linked with [ ] and backlinks, and laid out as a map you zoom into, from all your spaces down to a single note. The files stay plain Markdown, so Obsidian, Syncthing or any editor can work on the same folder at the same time. Daily notes with a calendar, tasks with due dates and repeats, templates, table and board views, canvases in the open JSON Canvas format, full text search with operators, versions and a trash. Spaces with read, write and manage rights, accounts by invitation or OpenID Connect (one-button setup for authentik), an optional second factor, comments, public pages, MCP for AI helpers, an API, backups and a log. English and German, light and dark, installable on the phone.

## Common questions

### Where is the setup code for the first account?

It is written to the container log on first start, so you can find it with docker logs nexlore. You can also provide your own code with NEXLORE_SETUP_TOKEN. The first account becomes the owner and needs a password of at least 12 characters.

### Which port and volume should the Docker Compose setup expose?

Use ports "8470:8000" and mount a folder to /data, for example ./data:/data. You also set PUID, PGID, and TZ in the environment.

### What happens when a note is changed outside nexlore?

External changes are picked up by a file watcher plus a full pass every five minutes. If you also edited the note, your text is saved as a conflict copy next to the original.

### Can I use nexlore on a phone?

Yes, the README describes using it on the phone as an installable web app.
