## Common questions

### Do I need to manually chown the data folder before starting cinema-watch?

No. At startup the container gives the folder to the PUID and PGID you set and runs the app as that user.

### Which host port should I map for the Docker deployment?

The Docker example maps port 8790 on the host to port 8790 in the container.

### Does the web UI need HTTPS?

The web UI is meant to run behind HTTPS and can be installed as an app.

### What information do Telegram alerts include?

They include new showings, freed seats, last seats, and canceled or moved showings, plus the seat map and the best free seats. The messages also include action buttons such as buy, open the room, update, and silence for 24 hours.

### What data does cinema-watch store, and what should I back up?

It stores data as JSON and JSONL files, with no database. The Docker examples mount a data directory at /data.

### Can the container run with a read-only root filesystem?

Yes, the image is compatible with --read-only. The example also uses a tmpfs mount for /tmp.
