## Description

EffectCraft Web is a community-maintained Docker image that serves EffectCraft, a free, open-source motion graphics and visual effects studio, in your browser. Self-hosted creators can build layered compositions with keyframes, expressions, 308 effects, layer styles, and 3D cameras and lights, with projects handled entirely client-side, so the container only serves the static WebAssembly app and no remote desktop or server-side rendering is required.

## Common questions

### Are project files suitable for backup or version control?

Projects use versioned JSON files with the .ecproj extension. That format diffs cleanly in version control.

### Does EffectCraft need FFmpeg for media decoding or encoding?

No. Video and audio decoding and encoding are implemented in pure Rust, using FilmCraft codecs and EffectCraft's own VP9, AV1, HEVC, and Opus encoders.

### Can Lottie animations be imported or exported without an extra plugin?

Lottie import and export are built in. You do not need a plugin to bring Lottie animations in or out.

### Can the app be controlled by scripts or external tools?

Menu actions, timeline edits, and property changes are exposed as commands. Engine commands can be run through the CLI, JSON control channel, or MCP, while UI-only commands can be invoked through the control channel or an attached MCP bridge.
