## Common questions

### How do I add my Proton Mail account after the container starts?

Run the container's init command, wait for the Bridge shell, and use the login command to add the account. Then use info to see the Bridge username and password, and exit when finished.

### Which host ports should I expose for the Bridge container?

The example Docker run command exposes 1025 for SMTP and 1143 for IMAP. These map to ports 25 and 143 inside the container.

### What data should I back up from Bridge?

Bridge keeps encrypted settings in the home folder under .config/protonmail/bridge-v3 and .cache/protonmail/bridge-v3. Back up those folders and remember the vault password, or you may lose access to your Bridge account setup.

### What should I do if a mail client warns about the Bridge connection?

Install the local TLS certificate if you are asked, or export it to a folder such as /tmp/bridge-tls. This lets the mail client trust Bridge locally instead of showing a security warning.

### Will Bridge deliver mail to a desktop client at the same time as the Proton mobile app?

One user reports that mail can appear in the Android Proton Mail app first and arrive later in a desktop mail client using Bridge. The thread asks whether Bridge is still a reliable option.
