# Fr24feed-piaware

Fr24feed-piaware is an all-in-one Docker image that bundles PiAware, fr24feed, and dump1090 to receive ADS-B and MLAT flight data from an RTL-SDR dongle and feed it to FlightAware and FlightRadar24. It is open source and self-hosted, installable on Docker Hub and Unraid.

## Description

Fr24feed-Piaware is an all-in-one Docker image that bundles PiAware, fr24feed, and dump1090 to receive ADS-B and MLAT flight data from an RTL-SDR dongle and feed it to FlightAware and FlightRadar24. It also runs a lightweight HTTP server that displays the received aircraft positions and tracks on a real-time map, so homelab users with a single USB SDR receiver can operate both services and monitor nearby traffic from one container instead of piecing together several separate images.

## Common questions

### Which ports should I expose for the local map and FR24 feeder configuration?

Expose port 8080 for the received-data map and port 8754 for the FR24 Feeder configuration panel. Use your Docker host address with those ports to reach them.

### How do I give the container access to my RTL-SDR USB dongle?

Pass the USB bus with the device flag shown in the Docker example. The README lists an RTL-SDR DVBT USB dongle, such as RTL2832, as a requirement.

### What credentials should I configure for FlightRadar24 and FlightAware?

Set the FR24FEED_FR24KEY environment variable for your FlightRadar24 sharing key and PIAWARE_FEEDER_DASH_ID for your FlightAware feeder ID. Optional services can also be enabled with their SERVICE_ENABLE variable and associated credentials.

### How can I reduce writes to an SD card or HDD?

Add the tmpfs mounts shown in the Docker run example for /run, /planefinder/log, and /usr/lib/fr24/public_html/data. The README says this avoids writing data to the HDD or SD card.

### Is there a time synchronization gotcha for MLAT?

Mount the host time file with -v /etc/localtime:/etc/localtime:ro. The README says this is needed for MLAT or you may have time synchronization issues.

### How do I disable a service that starts automatically?

Set the relevant SERVICE_ENABLE environment variable to false. For example, SERVICE_ENABLE_DUMP1090=false disables the dump1090 service.
