Agent Zero is an open-source agent framework that gives autonomous AI agents a full Dockerized Linux desktop, a browser, and a bridge to the host machine for work that needs more than chat. It pairs a Canvas with real GUI software, terminals, and files with Document Object Model (DOM) browser annotation, live document cowork, and projects, skills, and plugins for managing agents. Developers and self-hosters use it to create and deploy autonomous agents by connecting a Large Language Model (LLM) provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Cohere, or a local Ollama instance.

## Common questions

### Why might Agent Zero fail to start after running the Unix installer?

The Unix setup checks for Docker on Linux or macOS. If Docker is not available, Agent Zero may not start properly.

### What should I back up before updating?

The recommended setup is to back up the /a0/usr path.

### How can I verify that the external A2A agent endpoint is reachable?

Request the A2A well-known agent card after setup. A missing reply means the agent is not running or reachable.

### What must I do during first-run onboarding?

Open the Web UI and configure your first models. The guided wizard can set up OpenRouter as the default provider or another cloud or local provider.

### How do I let an instance access host files or the browser?

Use the Launcher or A0 CLI Connector to connect your host terminal, files, and browser. Opt in to Host access when an instance needs files, browser, or desktop access.
