First-install notes

  • Install the Python SDK first Before using embeddings search over a Private Service Connect endpoint, install the Google Cloud AI Platform Python SDK (the package that lets your code call Vertex AI). Without it, the search examples won't have the needed client library. source
  • Check sample names before running Replace the sample PROJECT_ID, LOCATION_ID, online store, and feature view names with your real Google Cloud values before running a command. Leaving placeholders or choosing the wrong project/region will make the command fail or point at the wrong data. source
  • Test sync one at a time You can manually start a data sync to check that your feature view is actually copying data into the online store, but only one sync can be running at a time. This is a useful first test before depending on scheduled syncs. source
