Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Make your .env file first Copy env.example to .env and fill in your settings before starting the app. Without this, the service may not know your required configuration and can fail to start. source
  • Start the service after install Run sudo systemctl start mattermost after installation so the service actually runs. If you forget this, the service stays stopped and nothing will respond. source
  • Initial configuration Create the /mnt/user/appdata/mattermost-push-proxy/config directory and download the default configuration file (config/mattermost-push-proxy.json) from the repository before starting the service. source

Common questions

How does the proxy decide whether to send a VoIP push?

Dispatch is driven by the transport field on the incoming notification. When transport=voip, the proxy emits a VoIP-shaped APNs request using the existing apple_rn configuration.

When does the documentation say you must host your own push proxy?

Customers building their own custom mobile apps must host their own push proxy service.
