Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Use a one-time install token for silent installs Get a one-time install token from your Comet server, then run install.exe /S /TOKEN=yourtoken from the installer folder. This keeps passwords out of scripts, and the token can expire or be used only once. source
  • Point the installer at your Comet server When installing a Windows client, give it your server address, such as /SERVER='https://example.com/'. If it points to the wrong address, it will not show up in the Comet server you expect. source
  • Make the Linux service start at boot On Linux, add /opt/CometBackup/backup-daemon-start.sh & to your rc.local (the old-style startup file). This starts the Comet Backup background service after a reboot, so backups do not stop running. source
