LuckyBackup is a cross-platform graphical user interface (GUI) backup program built on rsync, transferring only the changes made since the last job rather than full copies. It provides profile-based backup, restore, and synchronization tasks with scheduling, giving home users and homelab administrators a friendlier visual way to manage rsync backups.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Cron jobs When scheduling LuckyBackup with a cron job, enable the 'Console Mode' option for the job, otherwise the cron jobs will not run. source
  • Language changes After changing the interface language, quit LuckyBackup from within the web interface (Profile -> Quit) so the change is saved; stopping it externally does not save it. source
