Addarr is a Telegram bot that lets you add series to Sonarr or movies to Radarr from your phone using simple commands. It also integrates with Transmission and SABnzbd to adjust download and upload speeds on the fly. Built for homelab media managers who want a quick, remote way to queue new downloads without opening a web dashboard.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Map your Addarr files outside the container In your Docker Compose or docker create command, map config.yaml, chatid.txt, admin.txt, and logs to folders on your host. This keeps Addarr's settings, chat ID, and admin list from being lost when the container is updated or rebuilt. source
  • Start with the example config Copy the provided example config file to config.yaml and edit it before first run. If Addarr starts without a proper config.yaml, it may not have the settings it needs to work. source
  • Install Git and Python before running The bare-metal steps use Git to download Addarr and pip (Python's package installer) to install required Python packages. Without those tools already installed, the setup commands will fail. source

Common questions

Will Addarr work with Sonarr v3?

No. Addarr only works with Sonarr V4 because of breaking API changes between V3 and V4.

How do I set up Addarr configuration?

Create a config.yaml file in the Addarr appdata folder. Use the provided config_example.yaml, fill in the necessary fields, and rename it to config.yaml.

How is access to the bot secured?

The bot is secured with a password, and new chats first need to authenticate using /auth. You can also enable the allowlist in config.yaml so it only replies to already approved users.

Can I change Sabnzbd download speeds from the bot?

Yes. Use the /sabnzbd command to change Sabnzbd down-/upload speed to 25%, 50%, or 100% of the defined limit.
