Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Start SoulSync with Docker Compose Download the provided Docker Compose file (a short recipe Docker reads to start the app) and run docker-compose up -d, then open http://localhost:8008. If the container is not running, that page will not load. source
  • Manual Python installs need a web build If you install with Python instead of Docker, run npm ci and npm run build inside the webui folder before starting gunicorn. Without the built web files, the browser may not show the SoulSync interface. source
  • Match container user IDs to your account The id command output shows your UID and GID; use those numbers for the container's user and group IDs (often called PUID/PGID). If they are wrong, the container may not have permission to read your music or save settings. source
  • Share files in slskd when using Soulseek If you use Soulseek, share files in slskd (http://localhost:5030/shares) - leechers get banned by the network. source

Common questions

Why does the SoulSync interface fail to display in a non-Docker install?

Manual Python installs need the web build, so run npm ci and npm run build inside the webui folder before starting gunicorn. Without the built web files, the browser may not show the SoulSync interface.

Why can't the SoulSync container read my music or save settings?

Match the container's PUID and PGID to your host account's UID and GID shown by the id command. If they are wrong, the container may not have permission to read your music or save settings.

Why do library maintenance jobs miss files that are already in my own libraries?

The path resolver does not include own-library folders, so Orphan File Detector and other folder-walking jobs may not find them. Adding those folders under Additional Music Libraries makes own-library files discoverable.
