First-install notes
- Install it on Mac or Linux Open your terminal and run the install command shown in the README to set up the app on Mac or Linux. Without this step, the app is not installed and you cannot start a backup. source
- Check the Gmail service account Before backing up mail, run the service-account check using your workspace admin email. A service account is the Gmail identity that proves the app is allowed to access workspace mail, and if it is not set up Gmail will block the backup. source
- Keep the backup database safe Your backup data is stored in a local database file such as backup.db, so keep that file safe. If you delete or lose it, you lose the backup copy the app created. source
