First-install notes

  • In your config, set the Immich URL and API key In your config.yaml (the main setup file), set immich_url and immich_api_key to your Immich server address and API key (a secret code like a password). Without these required settings, the kiosk can't reach your Immich server and won't load photos. source
  • Create folders, config, and start the service Create the ./immich-kiosk folder and the config folder, download config.yaml, and after filling in the required settings, run docker compose up -d (the Docker command that starts the app in the background). If you skip this final command, your setup files exist but the kiosk is not actually running. source
  • Install the frame app on an Android device If you're displaying on a physical Android device, use adb (a command-line tool for controlling Android phones and tablets) to install ImmichFrame or Fully Kiosk Browser, then start it with the provided command. Without this step, the Android device won't automatically open and show the kiosk. source
