MoviePilot-V3

MoviePilot V3 is an automation hub for a home media library.

  • Downloaders
  • Media Applications
  • Tools & Utilities
MoviePilot V3 is an automation hub for a home media library. It watches your subscriptions, searches your indexers, hands the release to your existing BitTorrent client, then renames, hardlinks and scrapes the finished files into a clean library and refreshes your media server.

Highlights:
- Subscribe to movies and TV shows and let MoviePilot find and download them automatically.
- Works with your existing downloaders, media servers, metadata sources and notification channels.
- Automatic organising: renaming, hardlinking, NFO/artwork scraping and media server refresh.
- Plugin and workflow system for extending behaviour without touching the core.

Setup notes:
- The web UI runs on port 3000. On first start open it and complete the setup wizard.
- Map /media and /downloads under the same Unraid share (for example /mnt/user/) so hardlinks work

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Install, then open the setup wizard First run the one-line bootstrap installer from the commands page, then run `moviepilot setup --wizard`. The first command puts the `moviepilot` tool on your machine; the second installs the rest and asks for your admin login, API token, and movie folders so the app is usable immediately. source
  • Keep your config folder safe Use `--config-dir` to keep MoviePilot's settings in one known folder, and back that folder up. It stores your login, API token, and paths, so if you lose it you have to re-enter your whole setup. source
  • Set AnySearch key if using AI search If you use the AnySearch AI skill, copy `.env.example` to `.env` and set `ANYSEARCH_API_KEY`. Without the key, that optional AI search feature cannot call its service. source

Common questions

How do I finish the first-run configuration after installing MoviePilot V3?

Run the bootstrap installer first, then run `moviepilot setup --wizard`. The wizard asks for your admin login, API token, and movie folders so the app is usable immediately.

Which folder should I back up to preserve my MoviePilot setup?

Keep the config folder specified with `--config-dir` safe and back it up. It stores your login, API token, and paths, so losing it means re-entering the whole setup.

What do I need to enable the AnySearch AI skill?

Copy `.env.example` to `.env` and set `ANYSEARCH_API_KEY`. Without that key, the optional AI search feature cannot call its service.

Where should I ask questions about the community Unraid template?

Use the MoviePilot V3 Unraid support thread. It is for the community maintained template and template-related questions.

Where can I find help for deployment failures such as authentication or plugin problems?

Use the MoviePilot troubleshooting documentation. It covers installation problems, authentication failures, media processing errors, plugin issues, and external service connectivity problems.
