First-install notes

  • Use safe mode if it won't start If the app refuses to open, run `Everything.exe -safe-mode` to start it without loading any plugins. This lets you get in and fix a bad plugin instead of being stuck outside. source
  • Install as a background service After you finish configuring the app, run `Everything.exe -install-client-service` to install it as a service, which is a background program that runs without you opening the app. This is useful if you want it to keep running automatically. source
  • Start or stop the service from the command line You can use `Everything.exe -start-service` and `Everything.exe -stop-service` to turn the service on or off. This is handy when you need to restart it after making changes. source
