First-install notes

  • Fill in these settings before first start Before first start, set ALLOWED_HOSTS (the web address you will use), DJANGO_SECRET_KEY (a long random secret for secure logins), TIME_ZONE, and folders for uploaded and website files. If the address or secret is wrong, you can be blocked from logging in or make login cookies unsafe, and uploads may land where you forget them. source
  • Create the database before running wger Install PostgreSQL (the database app that stores your training and nutrition data) and create a 'wger' database plus a matching 'wger' login with privileges. Without this, wger has nowhere to save workouts and users, so it cannot work. source
  • Load exercise and food data on first run Run the commands that load exercise and nutrition data, then start the server so the app has the exercises and foods you need to log. If you skip this, the app may start but look empty; also change the default admin/adminadmin password right away. source
