FlareSolverr is a lightweight Docker proxy that solves Cloudflare protection challenges on your behalf. When a request arrives, it launches a headless Chrome browser using Selenium and undetected-chromedriver, loads the target URL with your parameters, and waits until the challenge is solved or a timeout occurs. The resulting HTML and cookies are returned so your other containers and downloaders can reuse them to reach Cloudflare-protected pages. Because it idles with minimal resource use between requests, it suits homelab setups that need occasional bot-protection bypass without a permanently running browser.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Set the Soulseek incoming port In the Soulseek settings, set listen_port to the local port, a numbered connection point on your machine, that other users should use to connect to you; using 0 turns off this listener, which can stop peer downloads from reaching you. source
  • Keep music in Artist/Album folders Store your music as Artist/Album/track files, as shown in the example; an unexpected folder layout can prevent the app from organizing or recognizing your library. source
  • Match --mode to your search type If search.default_mode (the default search behavior) is set to auto, add --mode manual for a specific artist or album, or --mode batch for a batch file such as a list of albums; without the matching --mode, the selector flags may not override the default. source
  • Proxy API port FlareSolverr listens on TCP port 8191 by default; in Docker, expose it with -p 8191:8191. source

Common questions

What network settings should be checked when FlareSolverr requests fail?

Disable or remove any proxy or VPN for FlareSolverr and the request source, disable IPv6 on the host or relevant Docker containers, and if using Docker keep relevant containers on the host network.

Can a Docker networking bug make NZBGet pick up FlareSolverr's port assignments?

Yes, one report describes NZBGet picking up FlareSolverr's port assignments, and repeated container resets sometimes correct the state.

Can Docker or FlareSolverr updates break previously working requests?

Yes, users have reported failures after a Docker update or a FlareSolverr update, and some websites are incompatible with FlareSolverr.

Why would a user pull FlareSolverr from source instead of using the compiled version?

A user found the compiled version could not be patched, so they switched to pulling from source to install changes.
