First-install notes

  • Grab the setup files first Install git and fail2ban, then download and open the BTCPay Server Docker folder. This gives you the setup script and configuration files, so the installer can find everything it needs. source
  • Run the interactive installer Run the setup script in interactive mode from that folder. This starts the guided installation and configuration, so without it BTCPay will not be set up or started. source
  • Choose a real web address Use a real domain or subdomain, such as pay.example.com, when the setup asks. This is the address people use to reach your BTCPay site, so a wrong one can prevent web access and secure payments. source
