Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Install Docker first Make sure Docker and Docker Compose (a Docker tool that starts multiple containers from one file) are installed before setup. Without them, the install commands cannot create the app's containers. source
  • Start with Docker Compose Run docker compose up -d to start Pingvin Share X in the background. This is the recommended method, so you don't have to manually install and manage the Node.js website and app backend. source
  • Point the frontend at the backend For the standalone Node.js/PM2 install, set API_URL (the setting that tells the frontend where the backend lives) to the backend address, such as http://localhost:8080. If this is missing or wrong, the website may not be able to talk to the app and will appear broken. source
