  • Backup
DBackup is a self-hosted backup automation tool that backs up databases and the files that belong to them. It connects directly to databases or runs backup tools over secure shell, then schedules, encrypts, and compresses backups of MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, SQL Server, MariaDB, Redis, Valkey, SQLite, Firebird, and directories to the storage you choose. It provides retention policies, real-time monitoring, granular access control, and simple restores. Self-hosters use it to keep standard, non-proprietary database dumps and file archives encrypted with open Advanced Encryption Standard (AES)-256-GCM, with a recovery key that lets you restore data even if DBackup is unavailable.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Docker and recovery key Deploy DBackup as a single Docker container; it needs no agent on the database server because it can connect directly to the database or run backup tools over secure shell. Create and store the Recovery Kit key before your first backup. source
