First-install notes
- Keep data in a Docker volume Use a Docker volume (a saved storage area), such as baserow_data:/baserow/data, for Baserow's data folder so your files and settings stay safe if you rebuild or replace the container. Without a saved volume, you can lose your Baserow data when the container is recreated. source
- Create a database and secure password Create a dedicated database and user in PostgreSQL (the database program Baserow uses), then replace the example password with a strong one. If the database credentials are wrong or the password is weak, Baserow may not start, store data correctly, or keep your data protected. source
- Enable Redis for background jobs Install Redis (a small service that queues background jobs) and start it as a system service so it runs automatically after a reboot. Redis handles background jobs and live collaboration, so if it is stopped, jobs may fail and live updates can break. source

Common questions
How do I prevent Baserow data loss when rebuilding a Docker container?
Mount a Docker volume to the Baserow data folder, such as baserow_data:/baserow/data. Without a saved volume, Baserow data can be lost when the container is recreated.
What role does Redis play in a self-hosted Baserow deployment?
Redis handles background jobs and live collaboration. If Redis is stopped, jobs may fail and live updates can break.
Does self-hosting Baserow remove row limits?
Yes, self-hosting liberates your Baserow database from the row limits.
How can I access Baserow rows programmatically?
Create the database schema and an API key in settings. Then Baserow exposes REST API endpoints to create, read, update, and delete rows.
