A Docker container that runs the official Ubiquiti UniFi Protect video surveillance software on x86 hardware, for people who want a self-hosted Protect console on a non-ARM machine. Ubiquiti stopped publishing x86 binaries after version 1.13.3 (2020), so this container is frozen and will not receive further updates.

How is this calculated?

A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Networking and app version Run the container in host networking mode, or on a custom br0 bridge if other services already occupy those ports via host mode; plain bridge mode does not work. To pair cameras, install UniFi Protect mobile app 1.3.8 and connect to the console through UniFi Cloud. source
  • Frozen x86 install This container is frozen at UniFi Protect 1.13.3. Run it with ports 7080, 7443, 7444, 7447, 7550, and 7442 published, a tmpfs for /srv/unifi-protect/temp, and persistent volumes for /var/lib/postgresql/10/main and /srv/unifi-protect. source

Common questions

Will this x86 container get newer UniFi Protect releases?

No, it is fixed to Protect 1.13.3 and the project will not supply further x86 updates because UniFi stopped publishing AMD64 binaries.

What Docker networking mode should I use?

Run the container in host networking mode, or use a custom br0 bridge if other services already occupy those ports via host mode; plain bridge mode does not work.

Do I need to set a memory limit?

Yes, otherwise the container will use all of your RAM over time; the example uses a 2048m limit.

What Docker mounts are recommended for Protect data?

Mount /var/lib/postgresql/10/main and /srv/unifi-protect as Docker volumes, and use tmpfs for /srv/unifi-protect/temp.

How do I pair cameras with the self-hosted console?

Install UniFi Protect mobile app 1.3.8 and connect to the console through UniFi Cloud.
