Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes
- Set up the database before starting Pick one database and pass the matching --database flag, using SQLite (a local file) or PostgreSQL (a separate server); for SQLite mount your data folder to /data, and for PostgreSQL create the magnetico user and database and enable pg_trgm (a PostgreSQL text-search add-on) first. If the database is missing or wrong, Magnetico can't start or save search data. source
- Open port 8080 for the web UI Keep the -p 8080:8080 part of the Docker command so your computer can reach Magnetico's web page at port 8080 (the address your browser uses to find the app). Without it, the app may be running but you won't be able to open it. source
- Create a login before sharing If you'll let anyone beyond your own computer use Magnetico, generate a username/password hash with htpasswd (a command that creates a safe password hash) and use it for password protection. This helps keep strangers from reaching your app through the open port. source
- Upstream repository is archived The original Magnetico repository is archived, so expect no active upstream maintenance and keep backups of any search database before relying on this environment. source

Common questions
Does Magnetico need a forwarded UDP port to work?
It needs a direct internet connection or the UDP port used by magneticod to be forwarded. The port is randomly selected at each magneticod invocation, so the forwarded port may change.
How should I configure the database before first start?
Choose SQLite or PostgreSQL and pass the matching --database flag. For SQLite mount the data folder to /data, and for PostgreSQL create the magnetico user and database and enable pg_trgm first.
Should I add authentication if I expose the web UI to other machines?
Yes. Generate a username and password hash with htpasswd and use it for password protection before letting anyone beyond your own computer use Magnetico.
Will the search database be populated immediately?
No, it can take time for magneticod to start collecting magnet links after it is running.
