Unsloth Studio

Unsloth Studio is an open-source web interface for running and training machine learning models.

  • AI
Unsloth Studio is an open-source web interface for running and training machine learning models. It lets users start model inference sessions, configure fine-tuning jobs, monitor progress, and review outputs from a browser. It is aimed at developers and homelab operators who want a guided local environment for model experimentation. It reduces setup friction compared with scripting inference and training workflows.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Use the Studio host and port flags Run `unsloth studio -H 0.0.0.0 -p 8888` so the web interface listens on port 8888 across your local network. If you skip `-H 0.0.0.0`, you may only be able to open it from the machine where it is installed. source
  • Install Unsloth inside a virtual environment Create a Python virtual environment and install with `uv pip install unsloth --torch-backend=auto` so dependencies do not clash with system packages. Skipping isolation can leave broken imports or the wrong graphics processing unit backend and make the Studio fail to start. source
  • Run Hermes setup before using agent features Start `hermes setup` to configure inference providers and agent settings before using the agent. If you skip it, provider addresses or credentials may be unset and agent requests will fail. source

Common questions

How can I open Unsloth Studio from another machine on my local network?

Start Studio with the host and port flags so it listens on the local network, such as port 8888. If you skip binding to all interfaces, it may only be reachable from the machine where it is installed.

What installation method helps avoid dependency conflicts or the wrong GPU backend?

Install Unsloth inside a Python virtual environment and install it with the auto torch backend option. Skipping isolation can leave broken imports or the wrong GPU backend and make Studio fail to start.

Why might agent requests fail even though the model is running?

Run the Hermes setup step first to configure inference providers and agent settings. If that step is skipped, provider addresses or credentials may be unset and agent requests can fail.

Can external tools call the model through a standard API?

Yes, it can serve models through an OpenAI compatible API.

Does it support multi-GPU and non-NVIDIA graphics hardware?

It supports multi-GPU setups, NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel GPUs, CPUs, and the Vulkan backend.
