Superstreamer is a self-hosted video delivery platform that transcodes source video into multiple quality tracks, packages them as HLS CMAF playlists, and uploads the result to S3. It can also build dynamic per-viewer playlists with bumpers, linear ads, and filters applied on the fly, giving self-hosters and media teams a single pipeline from raw file to streamable output.

Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Install the project's helpers first Run bun install and then bun run install-bin in the Superstreamer root folder. This adds the app's packages and video helpers such as ffmpeg (a tool that processes video), which can be needed before playback or stream processing works. source
  • Set settings before starting Set the environment variables (the app's configuration values) before you start the app. If they are missing or wrong, the services may start but fail to connect or behave unexpectedly. source
  • Start everything and open the app Run bun run dev to launch all the services and the dashboard on your machine. Once it is up, visit http://localhost:52000 to check that the app is running. source
