ZoneFoundry Bridge is a Docker container that connects your Sonos system to ZoneFoundry's cloud relay so it can be controlled from the ZoneFoundry iOS app, a voice assistant, or instant-messaging bots (Telegram, WeChat, QQ). The Unraid build supports one-tap self-updates: when a new bridge image is published, the iOS app prompts you to apply it and the container pulls the new image and restarts itself. It suits homelab users who prefer controlling Sonos through their own app, voice assistant, or chat platform.

First-install notes

  • First launch: one-time pairing On first launch, pair the bridge with a one-time code generated in the ZoneFoundry iOS app. Credentials are stored in /app/data and reused on later restarts, so map that directory to a persistent volume. source
  • Networking and container permissions Run in host network mode so the bridge can discover Sonos speakers on your LAN via Simple Service Discovery Protocol (SSDP). The container runs as a non-root user (UID 10001) with --cap-drop ALL; chown the host data path to 10001:10001. The mounted Docker socket and --group-add 281 (Unraid's docker group) are only required for the one-tap self-update feature and can be removed if you do not use it source

Common questions

Does the Unraid container need a special network mode?

It must use host network mode so it can SSDP-discover Sonos speakers on the LAN.

How do I connect the bridge on first launch?

Pair it with the one-time code shown in the ZoneFoundry iOS app. The container saves credentials in /app/data and reuses them after restart.

What ownership should the host data path have?

The container runs as non-root UID 10001, so the host data path should be chowned to 10001:10001.

How do I update the bridge without SSH or Container Manager?

The iOS app's Bridges screen shows an Apply Update action when a new bridge image is published. The bridge pulls the new image through the mounted Docker socket and restarts itself.
