First-install notes
- Faster GPU images (optional) If you use an NVIDIA graphics card, install xformers (an optional helper library) with the graphics-card software versions the docs list. Without it, images can still be made, but generation may be slower. source
- Faster CPU images (optional) If you use an Intel processor, install Intel IPEX (Intel’s PyTorch performance helper) and the listed system packages. They can speed up text-to-image generation; without them, CPU-only runs may be very slow. source
- Video-to-text feature extras If you need zero-shot video-text retrieval, install decord (a video reading library) and the BLIP requirements. Missing those packages will make that specific feature fail or error out. source
- GPU support Use a GPU-enabled image on supported hardware for accelerated image and video generation. source

Common questions
Do I need xformers or IPEX to run SD.Next?
No. xformers is an optional helper library for NVIDIA GPUs and can speed generation, while Intel IPEX is optional for Intel processors and can speed CPU generation. Without them, images can still be generated, but GPU output may be slower and CPU-only runs may be very slow.
Will SD.Next give the same image as A1111 or Forge with the same prompt and seed?
No, SD.Next and A1111 or Forge can produce different images for the same prompt and seed because their prompt interpreters differ.
Are third-party extensions compatible with SD.Next?
SD.Next does not disallow extensions and sometimes includes specific fixes to make them function. Compatibility depends on the extension developer checking SD.Next's documented extension guidelines.
Can SD.Next download models automatically?
Yes. You can select a reference model from the model list and have it downloaded and ready, or add your own models and have them automatically detected in the UI.
What extra packages are required for zero-shot video-text retrieval?
Install decord and the BLIP requirements. Missing those packages makes that specific video-to-text feature fail or error.
