Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Use the one-line install script On Debian/Ubuntu, download and run the official lnbits.sh script, then use ./lnbits.sh to start LNbits. It sets up the program for you, so a manual install mistake won't leave you unable to launch it. source
  • Create the LNbits database first If you are using PostgreSQL (a database program), install it, set a password for the postgres user, and create the lnbits database before starting LNbits. If that database is missing, LNbits will not have a place to store its data. source
  • Start LNbits as a service Run sudo systemctl enable lnbits.service and sudo systemctl start lnbits.service so LNbits starts now and automatically after reboots. If you skip this, you will need to start it by hand every time the server restarts. source
