First-install notes
- Homebrew: add provider in the web UI After installing with Homebrew, start the background program and add your Usenet provider details in the web UI. Without a provider, nzbfast has nowhere to fetch downloads from, so it cannot do its main job. source
- Linux packages wait for provider setup On Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, or RHEL, installing the package enables the service for the next boot, but a fresh install does not start it. This is because there is no Usenet provider configured yet, so add your provider before expecting the app to run. source
- Flatpak: run it to open the dashboard If you use Flatpak, run the io.github.nzbfast.nzbfast command after installing. This starts the background program and opens the dashboard in your browser, where you can finish setup. source
- Set NZBFAST_APIKEY before connecting Sonarr and Radarr Set this value, or use the key shown under Advanced in the dashboard, before connecting Sonarr, Radarr, or other compatible self-hosted apps. source

Common questions
Why does a fresh Linux package install not start NZBfast?
The package enables the service for the next boot, but a fresh install does not start it until a Usenet provider is configured. Add the provider before expecting the app to run.
Can Sonarr, Radarr, or similar tools connect without custom API changes?
Yes. NZBfast speaks the SABnzbd and NZBGet APIs, so Sonarr, Radarr, nzb360, and LunaSea connect unmodified.
Does NZBfast include an indexer?
Yes, it includes a built-in indexer.
Do I need separate PAR2 repair and archive extraction programs?
No, repair and unpack tools are built into the executable.
Do RAR archive volumes remain on disk before extraction?
No, the archive is extracted during download, so RAR volumes do not exist as files.
