Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Set APP_KEY before starting Before running the Docker Compose setup, replace APP_KEY with a random secret you generate; this is the key Gameyfin uses to protect its saved settings. If you leave it blank or reuse someone else's key, the app may not work correctly and your saved settings may not be protected. source
  • Keep folders and open port 8080 Make sure the Docker Compose file saves the db, data, plugindata, and logs folders to your own computer, and that port 8080 is open so you can open the web page; if the folders are not saved, your database and settings can be lost. If you use the torrent plugin, uncomment ports 6969 and 6881 too, or torrent downloads will not work. source
  • Check logs after starting After starting the container, follow the logs and wait for a line that says 'Loaded plugins'. That tells you Gameyfin is ready; if you only see errors or it keeps restarting, do not assume the first-run setup is complete. source

Common questions

What should I set before starting Gameyfin with Docker Compose?

Replace APP_KEY with a random secret you generate before starting the container. This key protects saved settings, and leaving it blank or reusing someone else's key can prevent correct operation.

How do I know Gameyfin has finished loading?

Follow the container logs and wait for a line that says 'Loaded plugins'. If you only see errors or the container keeps restarting, do not assume first-run setup is complete.

What permissions does a non-root user need for Gameyfin to scan games?

The user needs read access to the game files. Gameyfin requires filesystem access to scan game libraries and read game files.

What SSO options are documented for Gameyfin?

The documentation includes SSO guides for Authentik and Pocket-ID.
