Pterodactyl Panel is a free, open-source game server management panel for running and supervising dedicated game servers on self-hosted infrastructure.
Platform availability
Available on 4 of 9 platforms
Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes
- Set Wings API host, port, and proxies In Wings' YAML (plain-text settings) file, set the API host and port (the address and port the Panel uses to talk to this machine), TLS certificate/key file paths (for secure connections), and trusted_proxies (IP addresses of trusted web proxies that forward traffic). If these do not match your network, server installs and container control can fail or look offline. source
- Wait for install before starting Wings (the part that runs the game server in a container, an isolated program space) can only start a server after its container has been created and is not already running. Starting too early or twice causes an error, so wait until the Panel shows installation finished before you start the server. source

Common questions
What parts do I need to install to run game servers with Pterodactyl?
Install the Panel first, then install Wings on each node. After that, import an egg and create a server from it.
Can one machine host multiple game servers?
Yes, a node runs Wings and keeps every server in its own Docker container with hard CPU, memory, and disk limits.
Why might Wings show offline or fail to control servers?
In Wings' YAML file, set the API host and port, TLS certificate and key paths, and trusted proxy IPs to match your network. Mismatches can make server installs or container control fail or look offline.
Why does starting a newly installed server fail?
Wait until the Panel shows installation finished, because Wings can only start a server after its container has been created and is not already running. Starting too early or twice causes an error.
