How is this calculated?

A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Know the dashboard address and port Tautulli's dashboard is served on port 8181 (the web page you open in a browser). Use http://localhost:8181 on the same machine, or the machine's IP address and port 8181 from elsewhere, allowing that port through any firewall if needed, because that page is where you sign in and finish setup. source
  • Sign in to Plex before finishing When the dashboard loads, click Sign In to Plex and log in to the Plex account that runs your Plex Media Server. This connects Tautulli to Plex, without which it has no movie or show activity to track. source
  • Keep the app folder owned correctly If you use the Linux service steps, set the Tautulli folder owner to the tautulli user with chown -R tautulli:tautulli /opt/Tautulli. The owner is the account the app runs as, and wrong ownership can prevent Tautulli from saving settings or starting reliably. source

Common questions

Which port should I open for the Tautulli web dashboard?

Tautulli serves its dashboard on port 8181. Access it at localhost:8181 on the same host or the machine's IP address and port 8181 from another host, and allow the port through any firewall.

What folder ownership issue can stop Tautulli from saving settings?

When using the Linux service steps, set the Tautulli folder owner to the tautulli user. Wrong ownership can prevent Tautulli from saving settings or starting reliably.

How do I connect Tautulli to my Plex server?

After the dashboard loads, sign in to Plex using the account that runs your Plex Media Server. Without that connection, Tautulli has no movie or show activity to track.

Why can self-hosted newsletter images be missing?

If you use Imgur for image hosting, API limits can cause some images to be missing. If you are self-hosting images, also ensure the Public Tautulli Domain setting under Web Interface is correct.
