Health score?A 0-100 score computed nightly from four factors: maintained (40%: recent commits and steady activity), popular (25%: GitHub stars, log scale), easy to install (20%: platforms, install notes, setup guides, Docker image) and light to run (15%: minimum RAM, ARM support). When the source code has been checked, a fifth factor, security check (20%: automated scan for committed secrets, unsafe desktop-app settings, known-vulnerable dependencies and project hygiene; any serious finding caps it at 20), is added. Factors without data are left out and the rest are rescaled.

First-install notes

  • Start the receiver first Run the PacketStreamer receiver with a config file; it listens on port 8081 and writes pcap (packet capture) files to /tmp/dump_file by default. Without this, the sensor has nowhere to send traffic, and port 8081 may need to be reachable from the sensor. source
  • Point the sensor at the receiver Copy and edit the sample sensor config to add the receiver host's address. If the address is wrong, captured packets never reach the receiver. source
  • Sensor often needs elevated permissions Run the sensor with sudo because it needs permission to capture network traffic. Without that, it may start but fail to record packets. source
  • Get a PacketStream API key Create a PacketStream account and copy your API key from the dashboard before running the provided examples or integrations. source

Common questions

Which proxy protocols can I use?

HTTPS is recommended, and SOCKS5 and HTTP are also available.

How are proxy connections rotated?

Rotation is connection-based, and sticky sessions last 60 minutes.

What should I check first when a proxy request fails?

Start with the smallest reproducible request from the same machine or container as the failing app, then check authentication, endpoint, targeting, rotation, sticky-session, TLS, and timeout problems.

Can I deploy and track PacketStream from a self-hosted web UI?

CashPilot's web UI guides setup, deploys containers, and tracks earnings from the browser.
