First-install notes
- Use Node.js 22.18 or newer Before installing anything, make sure Node.js (the program that runs the tool) is at least version 22.18. The library uses built-in web features, so older Node versions can cause missing features or failures. source
- Start your slide project In a terminal, run npx --yes @office-kit/pptx-dev@latest init my-slides, then cd my-slides, npm install, and npm run dev. This creates a starter project, installs the needed packages, and starts a local preview so you can see the deck while building it. source
- Install the core PPTX library If your project needs to create PowerPoint files, run npm install @office-kit/pptx before importing the library. This adds the main slide-building code, so without it your project cannot generate .pptx output. source
- Runs in the browser The scanner runs entirely in the browser, so you can inspect .pptx font usage without installing fonts server-side. source
